RapidLog

| RapidLog can work with almost any TWAIN based
scanner. However, all scanners are not created equal. We recommend certain
scanners that have proven to provide the best combination of value and
performance, and we have given our technicians in-depth training on these
models. Listed below are current recommendations.
Important! Avoid flatbed-only scanners at all costs. Sure, they will tempt you, sometimes with prices as low as $49. However, the time it takes to raise the lid, place the log, close the lid, scan the log, raise the lid, and remove the log is just inconvenient and inefficient. You will quickly learn to hate the flat-bed scanning process. HP OfficeJet 4210/4215 - $99Scan speeds of 2.5 to 4.6 logs per minute* Multifunction "all-in-one" unit that offers the ability to scan, print, copy and fax. There is a trade-off to using the HP because more mouse-clicks are required and you need to start the scanning process before you load logs on the input tray. If, in your opinion, this inconvenience is substantial, then you should consider a different scanner. We recommend you buy the HP machine at your local office-supply or computer store, for best service and prices. Fujitsu 4120c2 - $995Scan speeds of 25 to 44 logs per minute* This model receives our highest recommendedation. At $995 it's a bit pricey for smaller operations, but if there's any way you can afford it, you will love it. If you have difficulty finding it locally, we sell this scanner directly. Fujitsu offers world-class support and reliability, and this scanner can operate through TWAIN at full speed, saving the cost of ISIS drivers. |
Fujitsu 4530 - $2695Scan speeds of 36 to 61 logs per minute* Ideal for high-volume applications, this Fujitsu scanner can scan up to a log per second. While it costs more than other scanners, it cuts the labor involved in scanning, and can actually result in lower total costs for companies with a significant number of drivers. NotesThe scanning speeds are affected by the speed of your computer, the size of your log (half page logs scan faster than full page logs), and operating system. Windows XP seems to provide the fastest speeds. If you have trouble finding these scanners, or if the Fujitsus are too pricey, you might consider Brother MFCs (multi-function components that, like the HPs, scan, print, fax and copy); make sure to get units that do not have integrated flatbed scanners. While our technicians are NOT deeply trained on these units, we have had clients use them successfully. As of this writing, they offer a slightly simpler configuration than the HP, but they have not faired quite as well as the HP in long-term reliability.
